One of the first areas I wanted to tackle when I joined Klose’s, was to understand what Klose’s stood for. In the first few weeks I was walking stores and the Klose’s team were telling me that Klose’s is community minded, trusting, sponsors clubs, is family minded and part of the hill’s community.
The business also had some ideas of where it wanted to be and how to get there, a strategy plan! In our recent culture survey, our store team members told us they wanted more information about our plan and how they could individually help improve the business.
I was inspired by this and wanted to wrap the message up in an easy 1 page format, so all our team members could relate to it and understand the message.
It was equally important to outline some behaviours that we all should work with to achieve our goals. As such The Klose’s Way was born.
With The Klose’s Way there are 3 key pillars: Customer People Community
These pillars are our strength to leverage and form the foundation of why we do, what we do!
We provide consistent fresh quality products with excellent service to our CUSTOMERS
We look after our PEOPLE
We support our local COMMUNITY, suppliers and sporting clubs
How we achieve this is through our behaviours. Teamwork – we work together Integrity – we hold high integrity Innovation – we constantly think, how can we do things better Leadership – we lead and coach everyone Customer Focused – our customers come first
Its important that we understand that great behaviours, allow everyone to excel in what we do and achieve our pillars of success.
The Klose’s Way is also about recognising our team, so we have introduced recognition cards to help embed The Klose’s Way. We would like everyone in Klose’s to call out great behaviours through a personal message on our new thankyou cards.
The simple art of a personal thankyou goes a long way!
Thanks team!

– Visiting our supplier, Bache Bros. –
Dave, Gordon & Derek met with George & Donna Mercurio of Bache Bros, the major supplier of fruit and vegetables to our stores, for one VERY EARLY morning tour of the Pooraka Fruit & Veg Market.
The whole operation is run with great professionalism. They are the equal biggest supplier at the Market, as well as having two extensive production packing and ripening facilities across the road.
They also have a very impressive avocado ripening facility, where we learnt that they process approximately 90% of the avocados sold in South Australia!
Interestingly, the Bache business (est. 1901) is a year older than the Klose business (est. 1902), although they have had eight separate owners in this time.
It was well worth the trip to understand one of our major supply partners better and strengthen that relationship. Two great companies with a rich and long history working together.
2022 Adelaide Hills Careers Expo
In August, Kelly Bennett (HR) & Jordan Caldwell (Woodside Manager and past student of Cornerstone College) attended Klose’s first “Adelaide Hills Careers Expo” at Cornerstone College. They had a wonderful evening talking to both parents and students alike, about all the different career pathways within Klose’s. Jordan even enjoyed seeing some of his old teachers!
Other attending businesses passed on great feedback to them regarding who Klose’s are as a company and what we represent within our community. That they love shopping with us and how our customer service excels against others. Being recognised for these attributes by fellow businesses within the Adelaide Hills is something to be very proud of, so well done everyone!
Overall, attending was a huge success! We hope to participate again next year spreading the word about career opportunities within Klose’s.
GEELONG CATS are our 2022 Premiers! Whether you’re a Cats supporter or not, you must admire their season and the way they beat the Sydney Swans on the last Saturday of September. Geelong 20.13 – 133 defeated Sydney Swans 8.4 – 52.
Below you will see who scored well and not so well in this seasons footy tipping competition, but once again, it was close at the finish! CONGRATULATIONS LUKE DAVIES!!! Gaining 10 points in Round 22 and utilising his ‘Wildcard’ to double his points in Round 23, receiving another 10pts (20pts) propelling him from sitting 16th after Round 21 to finish first BY ONE POINT! Well done Luke!
I’d like to congratulate all of our 2022 winners and say a BIG thank you to everyone for being a part of this fun competition within our workplace. Another BIG thanks go to the Klose family/management for the ability to use the Foodland AFL tickets for games at Adelaide Oval. Many of you enjoyed this throughout the season as a perk of being in the footy tipping competition and were very appreciative of being able to go and cheer on your favourite teams. I hope to see you all back on-board next year again.
Cheers,
Meegs
